5 We offer free breast screens for women aged 40 and over. Breast screening is most effective for women aged 50 to 74. Our appointments are quick and can be made outside working hours. Book today. BreastScreen Queensland has a new mobile van that will be at Pimpama City Shopping Centre until 5 September 2024. The van visits seven sites annually, in addition to the permanent clinics at Burleigh Waters, Helensvale, Robina and Southport. Whilst the permanent clinics can be accessed all year, the mobile van is taken to convenient spots to reduce travel time for locals. “Taking the mobile van to shopping centres can make it easier for our clients to attend and fit their screen into their usual visit to the shops,” said BreastScreen Queensland Health Promotion Officer Sarah Jesser. Breast screens (screening mammograms) are available for eligible people aged 40 and older, with individuals welcome to continue screening beyond age 74. Women aged between 50 and 74 are actively encouraged to screen every two years, as the benefits of screening mammography have been shown to be most effective for this group. Currently only one in every two women aged 50 to 74 participate in the free BreastScreen Queensland program within their recommended time frame. Having mobile clinics can help make it easier for people to attend screening closer to where they live or work. “One in seven women in Australia will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Regular breast screening helps save lives by finding breast cancer early when it’s easier to treat,” Ms Jesser said. To find out if you’re due for your breast screen, or to find your nearest BreastScreen Queensland service, phone 13 20 50 or visit breastscreen.qld.gov.au/make-an-appointment Eye catching new BreastScreen van at Pimpama City Did you know? - Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australian women. - 9 out of 10 women diagnosed with breast cancer have no family history of breast cancer. - Breast screening can find breast cancer early, before it can be seen or felt. - Breast screening has a normal result for most women, with no cancer found.

The inevitable clash between the two leads him into a different kind of brotherhood as war clouds gather. Maureen dreams of a life ‘just like the movies’ and waits to be swept off her feet. Yet at every crossroad, she makes the wrong choice. Bob discovers a natural talent with his fists and an instinct for trouble. But with every win he earns the hard way, more enemies rise. From police corruption and gambling dens to brothels and blood feuds, the Leach family toil in Sydney’s seedy underbelly and on battlefields far away. Against the backdrop of the Great Depression and the Second World War, The Youngest Son chronicles one family’s mesmerising fate in a grand saga and a masterclass in epic storytelling. 12 Regular eye tests with an optometrist can help make sure your eyes are in good health. They can pick up problems with your eyes before you notice anything. You don’t need a doctor’s referral to see an optometrist for an eye test. Regular eye testing is important for early detection of health problems such as Cataracts, Glaucoma, Macular Degeneration and even Pterygiums, that’s why we recommend yearly check-ups. The earlier these problems are diagnosed, the sooner you can get treated. This will improve your vision outcomes. Eye tests can also help identify if you have trouble seeing at different distances. You optometrist can give you glasses or contact lenses to improve your vision. You should see a doctor or organise an eye test if you notice any symptoms with your eyes or changes to your vision.
