25 Under a canopy of artificial darkness, we shared a mystical musical experience. The kind that is so far from concerts doing the current rounds as the night earth is from a full moon. Fleetwood Mac’s “Seven Wonders” inspired the formation of a truly dedicated collective of musicians working under the title of “Seventh Wonder”. This song from the 1987 LP “Tango in the Night” is about a moment so extraordinary, nothing would ever come close to its sheer exquisiteness. The line Stevie Nicks sings will surely run through your head now… ‘If I live to see, the seven wonders, I'll make a path to the rainbow's end - I'll never live to match the beauty again… the rainbow's edge’. Fleetwood Mac’s career timeline is crazily complicated as any group could ever be. Created out of Jazz / Blues roots and the accumulation of worthy members: some try out, some go, like Eric Clapton. Jockeying for contracts was also interesting, as the Beatles wanted to sign them on Apple. (Mick Fleetwood and George Harrison were brothers-in-law) But they ended up at Warner Brothers. Break-ups and make-ups, dustups and complete bust-ups. Addictions, anger and sadness - all these fuelled to drive the group into the depth of superb lyrics and standout melodies. MUSIC Review Seventh Wonder - Fleetwood Mac Tribute Show Twin Towns 3rd August 2024 It was way too complex (for me anyway) to follow their history back then. I just enjoyed their best songs on the newly minted FM stations in Australia. Luckily today, a talentoverburdened group with upfront and completely adorable singer Amanda Morely delivered to an appreciative full house at the Twin Towns Showroom the most wonderful sampling of big Mac hits. Seventh Wonder take great care in establishing their motive: to share these beautiful pieces as they interpret them. Enormous detail had gone into producing the stellar lighting and visual screens which not once took away from the haunting and yet soothing harmonies of “Rhiannon” and “Sara”, or the thumpingly enjoyable “You Make Lovin Fun” and “Little Lies”. One solid standout attribute of Seventh Wonder is they engaged us, the audience, immediately. They allowed us to sing. The Rumours are true. This is a must-see, must experience show.
